Brake system for a battery operated ground conveyor

Braking system for a battery operated floor conveyer, that has an AC drive motor (10) that drives a drive wheel, a braking device (12) for the drive wheel, a brake pedal (20) and signaler (22) that signals the pedal displacement to a drive motor controller (14, 16). First (32) and second (34) calculation units convert the brake signal into a desired torque for the motor and the actual torque into an actual braking force. A comparator in a brake control unit compares the desired and actual braking forces to determine a desired braking force for a second braking device.
