Decorative member for airbag module lids

The decorative element (2) for cover caps of airbag modules has design break points and/or bend points in the region of break-off edges (3-7) of the cover cap or outside this region. Material weakened points are provided in the decorative element on the design break points and may be in the form of slots or may be perforations on the back side of the decorative element. The decorative element consist of two components, one being a softer backing material and the other a harder cover layer, with the material weakening provided in the cover layer.
