Method and apparatus for detecting the stalling of an internal combustion engine
DRIVE
September 1, 2004
The stalling detection method uses an electronic evaluation stage supplied with the detected engine revs (N), for continuous monitoring of the latter and storage of the rev characteristic within a defined time window. The stalling of the engine is indicated when the engine revs in the time window immediately prior to the engine standstill identification point (t0) lie in a rev band between a lower rev limit (N1) above zero and an upper rev limit (N2 WARM) below the idling revs (N LLWARM) which is adjusted in dependence on the engine temperature. Also included are Independent claims for the following: (a) a control device with an electronic evaluation stage for detecting stalling of an IC engine; (b) a device for detecting stalling of an IC engine.
