Method for identifying an appropriate parking place

The parking space detection method uses evaluation of information provided by sensors monitoring the automobile peripheral field, with automatic selection of one side of the automobile (22) for subsequent detection of a parking space between parked vehicles (23), in dependence on the sensor information, e.g. in dependence on the detected distance to the side of the road or in dependence on a detected counter-traffic flow.
