The front spoiler (4) and fender (5) are composed of an outer skin backed by an opaque layer of an electro-luminescent film. The outer skin is transparent or translucent to allow light through but filter out the ultra violet rays. The outer surface can be structured with a decorative grain pattern. The outer surfaces have a pearly appearance, except for the base of the recessed wells (7) for the headlamps. The automobile (1) has a front spoiler (4) and fender (5) composed of an outer skin which allows light through backed by an opaque layer of an electro-luminescent film e.g. of metallic paint. The outer skin is transparent or translucent to allow light through but filter out the ultra violet component. The outer surface can be structured with a grain pattern as a decoration and also to camouflage scratches. The outer surfaces have a pearly appearance, except for the base of the recessed wells (7) for the headlamps.
