Method for generating a setpoint for a hill holder for a vehicle

The method involves holding the vehicle stationary using the working brake system without the driver operating the brake pedal by automatically controlling a hill holder pressure in the wheel brakes on a flat or inclined road. The hill holder pressure is a function of the temporary vehicle deceleration prior to stopping the vehicle. The acceleration value is computed as a value proportional to the maximum deceleration prior to stopping.
