Method and device for optimizing the parking braking of a vehicle
DRIVE
October 29, 2003
The braking force is initially (11) set by the force the driver exerts on the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, then automatically reduced (31). If the vehicle rolls, say because it is on a slope, the brake force is automatically increased (41) to hold the vehicle stationary. The system has sensors for slope, wheel speed, and operation of controls by driver.
