Cooling element for gases comprises an inner channel (1), several outer channels (2) surrounding the inner channel, and an outer casing (3) having at least one first connector (8) for the coolant feed and at least one second connector (9) for coolant discharge. A flap (5) fixed on a flap shaft (6) arranged perpendicularly to the flow direction of the gases is arranged on one end (1') of the inner channel. On this side the cooling element has an outer flange (4) connected to and terminating the outer casing. The flap shaft is rotatably mounted with bearings (7) arranged in the outer casing. Preferred Features: Sealing elements (7') are arranged between the bearings for the flap shaft and the flap shaft.
