The method involves blowing gas into a combustion chamber (10) with a blower (8) and producing a layered charge (16). The combustion gas is blown into a chamber (7) that is separate from the combustion chamber and that can be connected to it by a controlled valve (6) and is mixed with a secondary gas and the mixture blown directly into the combustion chamber by opening the valve. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a gas-powered internal combustion engine.
