Centrifugal separator

Cyclone (1) for separating foreign particles in a gas stream (2) comprises at least one rotating separating element (3) driven by a turbine wheel (4). Preferred Features: The separating element is a plate separator (5). The separating element and the turbine wheel are arranged on the same axis. The turbine wheel forms part of a radial turbine (8) and is driven by a pressure difference before and after a throttle valve (9) in an intake channel (10) of an internal combustion engine or by the pressure difference of a charger, especially an exhaust gas turbocharger.
