Exhaust gas recirculation device

In an exhaust gas recirculation device, when the engine is turned off, a valve 3 of EGR control valve is moved in a valve closing direction and stopped at a position beyond fully closed valve position by a given flap opening degree. In case that the valve 3 rests at the fully closed valve pos ition during a period when the engine is off, an entire outer circumference of the valve 3 comes in contact with an entire inner circumference of a nozzle 2 so that the valve 3 is likely to adhere to the nozzle 2 due to deposits attached thereto. However, as the valve 3 is opened by the flap opening degree, adhesion of the valve 3 to the nozzle 2 due to the depositions hardly occurs so that, on starting the engine, the valve 3 can be easily moved. Accordingly, the valve 3 can be accurately controlled to a given flap opening degree so that necessary EGR volume of EGR gas may be mixed with air flowing in the intake pipe.
