An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) apparatus for recirculating engine exhaust gas comprising a valve member (12) disposed in an exhaust gas recirculation passage (16) of an engine, the valve member (12) movable between an open position and a closed position to control the flow of the exhaust gas through the exhaust gas recirculation passage (16), one or more bleeders (14) to enable flow of exhaust gas through the exhaust gas recirculation passage (16) when the valve member (12) is in the closed position.
