Control apparatus and method for internal combustion engine

Fuel is injected through a fuel injection valve (18) into a mixing chamber (13a) while an air injection valve (17) injects compressed air into the mixing chamber. A mixture injection valve (13) supplies a mixture (12) of the fuel and compressed air into the EGR gas in a combustion chamber (11). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a combustion method; (b) a control method; and (c) a direct injection engine.
