Battery charger with improved terminal protection

A slide cover (21) is biased by a coil spring to a rear position in which the cover covers the terminals of a terminal block, during normal operating conditions. When a battery pack is attached to a connection portion (5) of the charger (1), the pack abuts and moves the cover to a forward position in which the terminals are exposed.
