Snap together mounting of an air bag module and a vehicle steering wheel

The apparatus has an air bag module (14) with a base plate portion (110) mounted on a support plate. The plate portion has locking tabs (126,134) which deflects locking units towards outer edge portions (26,28) during movement of the plate portion toward a front surface (34) of the plate. The locking units snap laterally outwardly over the tabs of the plate portion to lock the plate portion on the support plate.
