COLD START SYSTEM FOR RAPID DIRECT INJECTION DIESEL ENGINES

Source
Cold start system based on the use of the electrical resistances that heat the air needed for the combustion process of the engine during starting of an engine. Each resistance (7) is embodied in the form of a thin, considerably wide continuous strip extending in a markedly winding manner. This manner is done in such way that the resistance is evenly distributed in an orifice (3) for the passage of air, which is located in the support (1) of said resistance. The main faces of the resistance are located on imaginary planes which are parallel to the axis of the orifice so that the front edge (20) of the electrical resistance faces the air as it passes through. The resistance is fixed to the support on arched notches (4) defined in areas diametrically opposite the support, which open in the direction of the orifice for the passage of air. Corresponding ceramic insulators (8) are placed in-between the support and the resistance. The resistance is connected to the ground by one of its ends (10) and to the power supply cable (18) by its other end (17).
