Control system for operating a Diesel engine of an automotive vehicle
DRIVE
March 24, 2004
The diesel engine fuel injection timing is controlled in response to combustion noise measurement (8) for each cylinder. The noise detected is analyzed (6) and a controller (7) modifies the quantity of fuel injected into the cylinders to optimize the noise from the engine. The quantity of fuel injected is monitored (10) and associated with a noise measurement (8,9).
