Method of controlling a brake device of a trailer, and brake device for operating according to said method

The method involves measuring an intensity of force induced in a coupling device (3) and comparing the induced force with a target value (10). Braking objects (71) are actuated to brake a trailer vehicle (1) when a difference between the intensity and target value exceeds a preset tolerated threshold. The above steps are repeated until the difference is less than the threshold. An Independent claim is also included for a braking device.
