The combustion chambers (26, 28) are filled with solid propellant (30) and have igniters (54) in ignition units (16, 18) projecting radially from the outer casing (10). The igniter is completely outside the cylindrical casing. Radial ignition openings transmit gas flow from the igniter unit into the outer casing (10). The gas discharges into distribution chambers (40) (or intermediate spaces).
