Method and device for monitoring a vehicle

The method involves: (a) selecting a set (14) of vehicle parameters (14a-14I); (b) determining and storing an initial state set of the selected parameters; (c) detecting at least one selected parameter change; and (d) in the event of a change in at least one selected parameter, determining at least one new parameter set corresponding to the new vehicle state and storing it. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a monitoring system for recording a theft.
