Navigation device

The device has a monitor (20) on which an image, esp. a map, can be displayed. The scale of the image can be selected by turning a rotary switch. The center point of the image is maintained during scale selection. The direction of motion of a cursor (26) on the image can be selected by turning the rotary switch in another operating mode.
