A system for controlling a piezoelectric actuator, in particular for the fuel injectors of a diesel engine
DRIVE
January 21, 2004
The system makes it possible to control at least one piezoelectric actuator (PA) having a capacitive impedance and includes a source of voltage (VSS), a control circuit branch (5) in parallel with the source (VSS), in which the actuator (PA) is connected in series to two electronic switches (SW1, SW2) each having a respective parallel diode (D1, D2); an energy accumulating inductor (L) with one terminal connected between the said switches (SW1, SW2) and the other connected to the voltage source (VSS); and an electronic unit (ECU) operable to control the said controlled switches (SW1, SW2) according to predetermined modes of operation.
