The seat has a cushion carrier above a base frame with its forward region joined to the base frame by a horizontal pivot axle and its rear region directly engaged by a raising or lowering adjustment gearbox. The adjustment gearbox drives at least one crank rotatable in a vertical rotation plane about a horizontal axis parallel to the pivot axle. The free end of the crank is joined onto the rear region of the cushion carrier. The seat has a seat base frame (12) and a cushion carrier (19) above the base frame, whose forward region (V) is joined to the base frame by a horizontal pivot axle and whose rear region (R) is directly engaged by a raising or lowering adjustment gearbox (26). The adjustment gearbox drives at least one crank (K) rotatable in a vertical rotation plane about a horizontal axis parallel to the pivot axle. The free end (30) of the crank is joined onto the rear region of the cushion carrier.
