The support (4) for the windscreen wiper assembly (3) includes a plate (40) transverse to the axis of the windscreen wiper motor (30) and formed from a brittle polymer material that is designed to break upon an external impact e.g. from a pedestrian or cyclist with an external part (31) on the motor axis. The plate is molded or adhered to the bottom (20) of the windscreen (2) and forms an external wall of the space (5) in which the windscreen wiper assembly is fixed.
