Device for automatically switching lighting devices of vehicle

The device has a light sensor with a global sensor with essentially upward detection area for detecting light conditions in the vehicle surroundings and a forward area light sensor with detection region in the direction of travel and a control unit that switches the lighting unit on and off using their signals. The forward area light sensor is only sensitive in the infrared spectral region from a wavelength greater than 780 nm.
