Steering equipment for vehicles

Steering equipment is provided with a transmission shaft (4) mounted so that it can turn within a steering column (2), and with a control device (8) for actuating an operating unit; the control device (8) having a reference member (9; 27) which can move along the transmission shaft (4) and a sensor device (26) fixed to the steering column (2) in a position substantially facing the reference member (9; 27) for detecting a position of the reference member (9; 27) along the transmission shaft (4) .
