The method is for charge mixing in a motor vehicle internal combustion engine cylinder (10) with a piston (22) having a bowl recess (28) formed in the piston crown. The fuel is injected (24) over an angle (a1) smaller than or equal to a set formula at a defined position of the piston where the crankshaft is at an angle of fifty degrees from top dead center.
