Frontal air bag system

A frontal air bag system (10,110,210) for a vehicle (12) includes an air bag module (20) having a housing for mounting to vehicle structure of the vehicle (12) and an air bag (22) operatively connected to the air bag module (20). The frontal air bag system (10,110,210) also includes an inflator (64,164,264) disposed in the housing for inflating the air bag (22) with an inflation gas. The frontal air bag system (10,110,210) further includes at least one tether (54,154,254) interconnecting the air bag (22) and either one of the housing and the inflator (64,164,264) to cause some of the inflation gas to vent through the housing to atmosphere.
