There is described a method of controlling injection in a vehicle internal combustion engine (1), wherein the intake air flow (AIRMEAS) and exhaust lambda ( lambda UEGO) are measured to estimate the fuel quantity (QEST) actually injected into the engine (1) and perform a closed-loop control whereby the estimated fuel quantity (QEST) is made to substantially equal the nominal fuel quantity (QLOAD) calculated to meet vehicle user requirements. More specifically, the difference between the nominal fuel quantity (QLOAD) and the estimated fuel quantity (QEST) is used to calculate a correction factor (TCF) by which to correct the nominal fuel quantity (QLOAD).
