Motor vehicle retractable roof

The folding roof, comprising a rigid panel (10) that is moved between a horizontal position when the roof is closed over the vehicle's passenger compartment (2) and a vertical retracted position against a rear bulkhead (5) of the compartment, has a drive and guide system (20) that moves it between the positions with the aid of a pair of guide rails (22) inside the passenger compartment and two connecting members (25) with a roller carriage on one end and a hinge on the other. Each connecting piece has a swan-neck shape with its curved end uppermost and supporting a hinge pivot, while each carriage has two parallel sets of rollers for travelling along a guide rail.
