Method for controlling a spark-ignition internal combustion engine in lean mode

DRIVE April 23, 2003
Source
Method involves determining rotation speed of internal combustion engine, detecting accelerator pedal position, and detecting operation of brake pedal. Engine is operated with stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or with fuel cut-off in overrun, or closure of throttle to minimum required value, when rotation speed of engine lies above idling range, when accelerator is in rest position, and when brake pedal is operated. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a microprocessor for performing the method; (2) a computer program for performing the method; and (3) a control device for a spark-ignition internal combustion engine.
