Fuel cell stack

A fuel cell stack (1) comprises two end plates (3) with planar fuel cells between them. A temporarily plastic material (4) is inserted into the stack to equalize stresses during cell assembly. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) dividing or end cell elements used in the stack; and (b) a process for assembling the stack.
