Panel for a vehicle roof and method of producing it

The body(10) of the cover has a metal insert which extends around the entire periphery of the cover(9) to form a frame, but is interrupted at various points to form several parts. A plastic frame, preferably of foamed plastic partly surrounds the metal insert. An Independent claim is made for a process for manufacturing the roof cover in which the cover body and multi-part insert are placed in a molding tool and foam is introduced. Flow of the foam in an inward direction is limited by a seal located in a the peripheral channel(23) of the metal insert.
