The method has emergency automatic opening of the automobile doors, electric windows and/or sunroof initiated by the central control device (10), used for operation of the automobile passenger restraint devices (14,16,17,18; 20) in a crash situation. The signals provided by the crash sensors (8,19,53) can be evaluated by the central control device for initiating the emergency opening procedure dependent on the accident severity.
