Knee restraint for passengers

The knee support is mounted near the dashboard (1) and has a cross support (12) with deformation element (13) which is covered at least in some areas from the passenger cell (2) by a supporting wall of the dashboard. The deformation element comprises a first support section (19) facing the knee impact areas of the occupant, and a second support section (20) connected to the cross support (12) so that the first support section absorbs energy by bending whilst the second support section depending on load compresses and/or bends and where applicable the cross support dependent on load bends and rotates.
