Double sealing for an opening, especially for a motor vehicle door, and method for producing the same

The double seal consists of two basic seals (2, 3) of different lengths, joined together side by side for part of their length and following different paths round the door (1). Each seal has a fixing portion and a sealing portion, and the two are extruded together, e.g. with metal or plastic reinforcing elements. The shorter, or secondary, seal is separated from the longer one for the appropriate part of its length and its ends joined together by adhesion or moulding. The longer seal is cut to the required length and has sections joined by mouldings (15, 16) at the door corners.
