Dashboard for a motor vehicle

An instrument dashboard for a vehicle consists of a tear opening for an air bag, and an air bag unit behind the dashboard. The dashboard has a visible outer skin, with a weakening cut line at the rear to form the tear opening, and a hard foam reinforcing layer. The rear of the outer skin is separated from the hard foam layer by a sealing layer over the cut line region. The sealing layer consists of a two component polyurethane system.
