Safety device for motor vehicles

The safety device includes an airbag in the roof frame (4) of the bodywork (1) coupled by a connecting tube running from the A-column (2) to the C/D column to a compressed gas supply remote from the airbag. The connecting tube supplies the gas and also serves as a reinforcement to increase the side rigidity of the roof frame.
