Airbag module with an inflatable member with variable volume

The air bag module has a gas generator in a housing (3) at its base. The volume of gas produced can be controlled and the gas bag consists of two sections (7, 8) which can be inflated one after another. These are mounted in a cover which has a perforation across the top and transverse perforations on each side.
