The system has a linear motor section with primary parts for generating a magnetic field when supplied with regulated current to move magnetic secondary parts in a transport direction. A regulator unit has a detection unit for determining a control parameter and a computer unit that derives the secondary part position relative to the primary part from the control parameter and the position-dependent induced voltage and/or primary part inductance. The arrangement has a linear motor section with an arrangement of primary parts for generating a magnetic field when supplied with current from a regulator unit and magnetic secondary parts movable in a transport direction by the field. The current regulator unit(s) has a detection unit for determining the regulation control parameter and a computer unit that derives the position of the secondary part relative to the primary part from the control parameter and the voltage induced depending on the relative position and/or the inductance of the primary part.
