Apparatus for generation of hydrogen and process for allothermic steam reforming

DRIVE November 13, 2002
Source
Device for allothermic steam reforming comprises an allothermic reformer (1) operating at a temperature of 400-600 degrees C to convert hydrocarbon gas and water into hydrogen and further reformer products, such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide; and a gas burner (6) for reducing the carbon monoxide amount connected to the reformer. The burner has a gas connection (7) which is connected to the burner for recycling non-converted hydrocarbon gas to the reformer and non-converted hydrogen to the burner. An Independent claim is also included for a process for allothermic steam reforming. Preferred Features: A gas fine cleaning stage (5) is connected to a catalyst stage (23) for further conversion of carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide.
