The parking brake comprises a control unit (1) placed on the dashboard, a force multiplier unit (3) and transmission units (2,4) for transmitting the clamping force applied to the control unit to the vehicle rear wheels' brakes. The force multiplier unit is located under the floor (D) in a zone (Z) located in front of the front passenger seat. One of the transmission units is a traction cable (8) running partially in the driving post and under the floor between the control unit and the force multiplier unit.
