The electric control for a motor vehicle parking brake has an actuating lever (14) moving in a fixed guide (12) against a spring under manual action. Sensors (50) detect the position of the lever and are connected to a brake control. The lever can be locked (18,20) releasably with respect to the fixed guide. The lever lock has a stop (18) and a release (20) formed by a pivoting catch (654) engaging a toothed rack (523) on the lever.
