The invention relates to a method for moving a motor vehicle (1) into a target position, wherein the motor vehicle is brought into a starting position near the intended target position, after a first activation by the driver the surroundings of the motor vehicle (1) and at least for detection of the target position are continuously scanned and the current vehicle position is continuously determined, control information for moving the motor vehicle into the target position is determined based on the determined environmental and position information, after a second activation by the driver control commands dependent on the control information are issued to the powertrain (11) and/or the brake system (10) and/or the steering (9) of the motor vehicle, whereby the motor vehicle (1) moves into the target position independently of the driver.
