Method and apparatus for controlling a vehicle suspension system based on sky hook approach

DRIVE October 9, 2002
Source
The method for controlling a motor vehicle semi-automatic suspension involves detecting vehicle dynamic parameters (S1,S2...Sn) during operation and using these, calculating a target damping force to minimize vehicle body acceleration while maximizing force transmission to the road surface. Calculation is based in a Skyhook model. The suspension is controlled (34-36) to correlate the damping characteristics with the target values. Claims include a control circuit for the vehicle suspension.
