The invention relates to a method of fastening a pedal assembly to a surface provided with a bearing area comprising the steps of: fastening at least three studs (3) offset relative to the bearing area (1) to the surface (2), positioning the pedal assembly (5) containing the screw (10) of a brake nut-screw assembly in cooperation with said studs (3), tightening a nut (12) on each stud (3) in order to fasten the pedal assembly (5) relative to said surface (2), placing the associated brake nut (13) on said screw, applying a torque to the brake nut (13). According to the invention, the step of applying torque to said brake nut allows consecutively: bringing the screw (10) contained on the pedal assembly (5) into abutment against said bearing area (1), tightening the brake nut (13) on the pedal assembly (5) in order to standardize the positioning of the abutment (11) relative to the dispersions induced during fastening. The method finds its application in particular in the field of motor vehicle assembly.
