Preparation of a water-repellent catalyst layer on a ceramic or metal carrier

Source
Production of a catalytic component on a metallic or ceramic support comprises applying the catalytic component in at least one layer containing a water-repelling component on the metallic or ceramic support. The water-repelling component is applied together or alternately with a catalytically active component in one process step. The layer containing the water-repelling component has a porosity permeable for gas and/or gaseous media. Preferred Features: The layer containing the water-repelling component is produced by applying a material mixture containing the catalytically active and water-repelling components, in which the concentration of both materials is constant in the direction of the layer thickness. The layer is applied by spraying, printing, painting or rinsing. Pore formers are added to the material mixture.
