Vehicle steering system

A vehicle steering device has a steering wheel (10) that has a gas bag module (12) with a gas bag (28) and a cover cap (14) on the front which closes off a exit opening (34) for the gas bag up to its unfolding. In the cover cap is located an indicating and/or operating device and the exit opening runs around the indicating and/or operating device (36). The exit opening has a closed annular shape. The gas bag is designed as annular and can move outwards over the exit opening. The indicating and/or operating device upon the unfolding of the gas bag remains fastened to the steering wheel.
