The method involves continuously sensing spring movement between the chassis and axles, forming the mean of the sum of the measured values, determining the number of local extremes of the mean or sum in a certain period, determining the frequency of extremes and hence of vertical relative motion, comparing with a defined threshold defining stationary status and providing the result for intervention in control, regulation and/or monitoring devices.
