Gas generator for an airbag on a steering wheel of a motor vehicle

The gas generator has a container (3) for a driving gas filling. It is in the form of a shock absorber. The container is connected to the steering wheel by a gas-proof spring element (1) in the form of a hollow truncated cone and a fixing flange (2). The connection between the spring element and the container and/or the fixing flange is in the form of a clamping connection (4, 5).
